Rubeling, Riford win triathlon title

COLUMBIA, Md. -- Maria Rubeling, 45, and Mackenzie Riford, 17, both of Hagerstown, won the Mother-Daughter team division at the Aflac Iron Girl Columbia Triathlon on Sunday, topping a field of 40 mother-daughter teams with a combined time of 3 hours, 41 minutes, 28 seconds.

The event consisted of a .62-mile swim, 17.5 miles on the bike and a 3.3-mile run.

Rubeling completed it in 1:43:19 to place 24th overall out of 1,785 women. Riford was 137th overall in 1:58:09.


Washington 6, Berkeley Springs 0

CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. -- Tanner Robison scored four goals to lead Washington to its second straight shutout to start the season.

Daniel Hepner and Angel Cruz each scored, while Kris Robins had four assists for the Patriots (2-0). Chris Rauch got his first shutout of the season in goal.


Washington has outscored its first two opponents, 19-0.

Berkeley Springs fell to 1-1.
