Charles Town man killed in ATV accident

CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. -- A 40-year-old Charles Town man was killed early Wednesday when the all-terrain vehicle he was driving ran into a metal fence, according to Charles Town police.

Jeffrey Strickler, no address available, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Strickler was driving the Honda all-wheel drive vehicle on Vinton Lane, a private gravel lane, toward its intersection with Augustine Avenue, Sgt. Mark Spessert of the Charles Town Police Department said.

The accident occurred at 2:18 a.m., Spessert said.

The cause of death was listed as head trauma. Spessert said the man wasn't wearing a helmet.
