Thurmont man taken to hospital after wreck

August 25, 2010|By DAN DEARTH

A Thurmont, Md., man was taken to Washington County Hospital to be treated for minor injuries after a three-vehicle accident Wednesday at the intersection of Rench Road and Sharpsburg Pike.

Maryland State Police Trooper Dave Matthews said Barry Lynn Taylor, 63, of 13105 Tower Road, was taken to the hospital as a precaution.

Taylor was traveling south on Sharpsburg Pike at about 12:50 p.m. when his Nissan Titan Pickup truck collided with a Honda Civic that pulled into the intersection from Rench Road, Matthews said. The name of the 16-year-old driver of the Civic was not released.

Matthews said the collision caused Taylor's truck to bump a Toyota mid-size sedan that was traveling north on Sharpsburg Pike.

Neither the driver of the Toyota, Williamsport resident Roger Clayton Reid, nor the driver of the Civic was injured, Matthews said.

The driver of the Civic was charged with failure to stop and yield, Matthews said.

Traffic was backed up for about 25 minutes while workers cleared debris from the scene.
