Charlie Walter Hayter, 80, of School House Court, Boonsboro, Md., passed away Friday, Aug. 20, 2010, at his home.

Born July 10, 1930, in Greendale, Va., he was the son of the late Charlie Minton and Bessie Mae (Kestner) Hayter.

He retired as a transit driver from the City of Frederick.

He was Protestant by faith.

He was a member of the Williamsport Red Men Lodge 84.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Gloria M. (McDonald) Hayter ,whom he married March 5, 1966; daughter, Deborah Biser and husband Paul of Boonsboro; sons, Timothy Mark Hayter and Ronald Keith Hayter, both of Hagerstown; brother-in-law, William Hardester of White House, Tenn.; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Joyce Hardester.

There will be no viewing.

Services and burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
