Hagerstown Bridge Club results

Twenty-one pairs competed in a North America Pairs Qualifying event Wednesday, Aug. 18, during a meeting of the Hagerstown Bridge Club. Ten North-South and 11 East-West pairs competed.

Overall winners and qualifying for the North American Pairs District finals are: Jack Mesner and Tom Janus, who came in first in Flights A, B and C with 60.45 percent; Dick Taylor and Ron Clawson, second in Flight A with 59.28 percent; and Lois Taylor and Bob Freed, who came in third in Flight A.

Fannie Johnson and Bob Byrd were fourth in Flight A, second in Flights B and C. Anne and Frank Carden were fifth in Flight A. Ann Lebherz and Scott Kiser were sixth in Flight A and third in Flight B.

Further overall winners were John Oyler and David Desjardins, who came in fourth in Flight B and third in Flight C; Pat Newbold and Kathleen Goss, who came in fifth in Flight B; and Margaret Abercrombie and Jean Hollyday, who came in fourth in Flight C.

Also earning master points (which include red) and qualifying by placing in the North-South section were Emma Eaton and Debbie Kiser who came in fourth in A; and Margaret Hays and Patricia Young, who came in second in Flight B and first in Flight C.

A multi-Unit Sectional Tournament (with Silver masterpoints) will be at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 25, at American Legion Post 42 on Northern Avenue in Hagerstown.
