There's still time to sign up for fall ball



There is still time to sign up for Maugansville Little League fall ball.

The league will hold registration Saturday, Aug. 28, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Major League press box.

Sign-ups are for T-ball, minor league, major league and junior league.

Fall ball is open to any player born between May 1, 1996 and April 30, 2005.

Cruise-in set for Saturday



Hub City Cruisers will hold a cruise-in Saturday at the former County Market parking lot off Burhans Boulevard from 5 to 9 p.m.

The entry fee is $2 per vehicle. Prizes will be awarded at 8:30 p.m. Ice cream and food vendors will be available.

Proceeds benefit Hospice of Washington County.

Exercise classes



The Washington County Recreation Department will offer exercise classes at Maugansville Elementary School.

Zumba will be held Tuesdays and Thursdays from Sept. 14 to Dec. 9 (no classes Nov. 22 and 25) from 6:15 to 7 p.m or Monday and Wednesday, Sept. 13 to Dec. 8 (no class Nov. 24) from 6:45 to 7:30 p.m.

The class costs $40 for county residents and $50 for nonresidents. It costs $32 for senior citizens 55 and older.

Other classes offered are Workout Your Way, Kick into Cardio, Muscles at Work and Step Into Shape.

Maugansville Pride Day



The Maugansville Ruritan Club will hold its 30th annual Maugansville Pride Day on Saturday, Sept. 4, at the Ruritan Park.

The event will include craft vendors and lots of homemade food, including Italian sausages, funnel cakes, french fries, ice cream, country ham sandwiches, chicken-corn, ham and bean, and vegetable soups, hot dogs, steamers, hamburgers, cakes, pies and other goodies.

There will be free entertainment by Heavenly Harmony, performing at the opening ceremonies, country and western dance demonstrations, Maryland State Police dog demo and live bluegrass music by the Stoney Creek Band.

There will be barrel train rides for children. There will also be a "Candidate Karaoke" singalong. There is plenty of free parking and the only charge is for food.

Broadfording event set



Broadfording Christian Academy, at 13535 Broadfording Church Road in Hagerstown, will hold a back-to-school fundraiser Saturday, Aug. 28, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The event will include a cruise-in, music, yard sale, and a food and bake sale. The entry fee for the cruise-in is $3 per vehicle. Dash plates will be given to the first 100 vehicles.

To set up a table to participate in the yard sale, the cost is $15 per table.

All proceeds will benefit Broadfording Christian Academy.
