Md. chamber makes picks

The Maryland Chamber of Commerce Political Action Committee has announced its picks for this year's state delegate and Senate races.

So far, in local races, the Chamber's PAC has endorsed:

o Sen. George C. Edwards, R-Garrett/Allegany/Washington, running unopposed

o Sen. Alex X. Mooney, R-Frederick/Washington, who is unopposed in the primary, but will face the Democratic primary winner in November

o Del. LeRoy E. Myers Jr., R-Washington/Allegany, who is unopposed in the primary but will face Democrat Ronald Lohr in the general election

o Del. Andrew A. Serafini, R-Washington, who is opposed in a GOP primary by William J. Wivell and Denny Stouffer.

"As of right now, I don't anticipate an endorsement in the Dist. 2 Senate race," William R. Burns, the Chamber's director of communications, wrote in an e-mail, referring to incumbent Sen. Donald F. Munson and challenger Christopher B. Shank, both Republicans. "The PAC's board of trustees views both candidates as business friendly."
