WILLIAMSBURG, Va. -- Beaver Creek professional Dirk Schultz had a passing grade on Wednesday as he shot a 3-under-par 69 to finish third in the Mid-Atlantic PGA Pro Championship at the Golden Horseshoe Golf Club.

Schultz finished the 54-hole event with a 5-under 210, becoming one of 15 players from the original field of 153 players to qualify for the PGA Players National Championship next June in Hershey, Pa. This was Schultz's fifth successful qualifying finish.

On Wednesday, Schultz shot a front-nine 32 and at one stretch birdied five of six holes. Only a double-bogey on the 576-yard, par-5 18th hole kept him from a better score.

Also, Fountain Head professional Jim Schouller had one of his best rounds of the year, shooting a 3-under 69. He finished at 5-over 220 in a tie for 24th place.

David Hutsell, of Elkridge (Md.) Golf Club, fired a 64 to win the tournament by three strokes at 205. Jody Rokisky, professional at Holly Hills Golf Club in Frederick, Md., also qualified after finishing eighth at even-par 215.
