Rodger Paul Barger, age 86, of Glenwood, Md., died at his home on Tuesday, Aug. 17, 2010.

Born Feb. 25, 1924, in Clarksville, Md., he was the son of the late Timothy Paul and Sarah Isabelle Blaney Barger. He was the husband of Rose Marie Barger (nee Paris) of Glenwood.

Rodger had been a lifelong farmer. He had farmed on the family farm in Clarksville and his farm in Glenwood. He raised dairy and beef cattle until 1980 and then crop farmed until recent years. He was an avid hunter, especially big game. He enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a member of St. Louis Catholic Parish, Clarksville.

Surviving in addition to his wife are daughter and son-in-law: Kathleen Anne and Richard Keyser of Middletown, Md.; son and daughter-in-law: Timothy James and Sharon Barger of Baltimore, Md.; grandchildren: Buddy, Michelle, Timothy, Crystal, Katie, Scotty and Doug; great-grandchildren: Tyler, Brittany and Marissa; special friends: Brice Ridgely, Dennis Hubbard, Carol Blizzard and Jeff Gillis. He is also survived by devoted caregivers: Delores Stewart and Debra Waters.

He was predeceased by siblings: Emma, Lou, Jimmy, Daisey, Tim (W.T)., Blaney and four infant siblings.

A funeral liturgy will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at St. Louis Catholic Chapel (12500 Clarksville Pike), Clarksville with the Rev. Gregory Rapisarda as celebrant. Interment will be in St. Louis Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Haight Funeral Home & Chapel (6416 Sykesville Road) Sykesville on Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
