"This is 'One-Lane Bridge Crossing 101.' The triangles on the road and the yield sign at the one-lane bridge in Funkstown mean you yield from that point. You don't stop there. Those sitting in front of the triangles go across, while those behind the triangles yield to those on the other side, in front of the triangles, and back and forth. And oh, yeah, if you're getting ready to cross and traffic is backed up, don't come across and stop on the bridge, blocking traffic at the opposite directions. It never ceases to amaze me at the selfishness of drivers."

"I'm calling concerning a notice that I saw from the Hagerstown City Police Department at Walnut Towers with a registered sex offender's picture, stating that he had recently been released, and he is known to be living in the woods near Walnut Towers, and his address is 'homeless,' according to the city police, and I was wondering how a first-degree violent sex offender could be released with no address to go to. That's just ridiculous."

"If anyone would like to see a prime example of the waste of taxpayer money, go up to the County Commuter lot in the West End, at Devonshire and Washington Street, and look at the wrought iron fence they're putting up around the parking lot. It has to be at least $200 a section, and they're going to spend thousands of dollars to put this up, to secure this parking area - and the fence isn't high enough to keep people out. You can get right over top of it. It's a prime example of Washington County wasting taxpayers' money."

"Gee, thanks to the new mayor, Paul Crampton, we now get garbage collected one day a week - which we were not notified of - but we get to pay the same rate as when we got it collected twice a week, and we are paying for yard waste removal on Tuesdays, and nobody ever sets anything out. Maybe they ought to do yard waste once a month."

"On Aug. 14, 2010, I read an article in The Herald-Mail newspaper that stated President Obama agreed that the Muslims could build a mosque on Ground Zero where the terrorists flew into the Twin Towers, killing thousands of people. How do you think the people feel that lost loved ones there; workers, firemen and police officers? I hope this takes down his rating more than it already is now. Also, Pennsylvania built a park where the plane went down. ... Don't forget the plane flew into Washington, D.C., and crashed."

"Each and every state employee, including elected and appointed officials, judges, state police, COs and everyone else who draws a pension, should be under the same plan - 30 years or age 65 - with no exceptions. Giving 'fat' plans to select employees and judges and elected officials has added to the pension woes. Dems have controlled the legislature for several years and have refused to control spending ... so don't expect the minority GOP to solve all of the problems caused by big city Dem politicians."

"If the average spectator, or the usual highly qualified PGA golfer, or the ... the TV booth, cannot tell the difference between a fairway and a designated bunker, is it worth paying big bucks to play or to watch a golf match anymore?"

"I'd like to send a big thank you to Washington County businesses, and especially those in Hagerstown, for showing that they support Republican candidates in the upcoming elections. You've made it easy for my friends and family to know which businesses to avoid with future purchases and services."

"Concerning the new rule of no scented products at Smithsburg High School, we feel that it's an infringement on our rights as a student at the school. Just because we are (conscientious) about our cleanliness and we just so happen to smell good we should not be punished for it. Fragrances are not the only problems in life. ... Come on, people."

- Smithsburg

"Republican House leadership so highly value Chris Shank that they elected him Minority Whip since 2007. It is no surprise Democratic House leadership dislikes him for his uncompromising principled positions on issues. How uplifting this is in a politician. This also explains why sitting Sen. Don Munson has never been elected to a House or Senate leadership position by his peers."

"I'm just wondering how the teammates of Percy Harvin and Brett Favre feel up in Minnesota. Brett, take as much time as you want, that's OK, you just show up when you feel like it. We'll find a spot for you. You can be our starting quarterback. Percy, I don't care that your grandmother died and you're in mourning. I don't care that you suffer from migraine headaches. If you're not here at such and such a date, we're putting you on the ... Brett, you let us know."
