Boonsboro motorcyclist in critical condition after being struck by pickup truck

FREDERICK, Md. -- A Boonsboro man was in critical condition Thursday night at the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore after he was struck by a pickup truck while riding a motorcycle on Old National Pike, according to Maryland State Police.

Terry Haag, 40, was traveling east at a constant speed on Old National Pike at West Brookridge Drive when the westbound pickup truck hit his motorcycle as the truck started to make a left turn into a business parking lot, state police said.

The driver of the 2008 Ford F-350 truck, Michael Offutt, 46, of Falling Waters, W.Va., was cited as the at-fault driver in the 3:18 p.m. crash, according to a news release. Offutt was not injured, police said.

Both lanes of Old National Pike were closed for about 45 minutes while police investigated the crash.


Person taken to hospital after single-vehicle crash

HANCOCK -- A person was taken to the hospital after a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 70 near exit 5 Thursday afternoon, according to a 911 dispatcher.

The westbound vehicle might have rolled over in the 5:37 p.m. crash, the dispatcher said.

Maryland State Police investigated the crash but were not available to provide more details Thursday night.

Bag containing jewelry found outside Pa. mall

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Pennsylvania State Police said they recovered a bag containing jewelry at the movie entrance to the Chambersburg Mall on Wednesday.

The bag was found at noon, state police said.

The person who lost the jewelry may claim it at the state police barrack in Chambersburg, state police said.

The barrack is at 679 Franklin Farm Lane.

Hagerstown Police respond to incidents

The Hagerstown Police Department responded to the following incidents, according to spokeswoman Barbara Pickett:

Wednesday, Aug. 18

o An arrest warrant was served in the 400 block of Park Place.

o A man was arrested in the first block of West Baltimore Street.

o A stolen or lost vehicle tag was reported in the 900 block of South Potomac Street.

o Domestic violence was reported in the 100 block of North Cleveland Avenue.

o A hit and run was reported in the 1700 block of Dual Highway.

o An overdose was reported in the 200 block of Frederick Street.

o A man was arrested for trespassing in the 600 block of Hayes Avenue.

o An arrest warrant was served in the 100 block of South Potomac Street.

o A strong-armed robbery attempt was reported at Maryland and Reynolds avenues.

o A burglary was reported in the 300 block of South Burhans Boulevard.

o Vehicles were spray painted in the 400 block of South Burhans Boulevard.
