Waynesboro's Taste of the Town to return on annual basis

August 18, 2010

WAYNESBORO, Pa. -- The Waynesboro Area Taste of the Town will be returning on an annual basis following action of the WaynesboroFest Board of Directors, according to a news release.

WaynesboroFest is still a triennial celebration every three years, but the board has decided to hold the 5K run and the Taste of the Town every year as potential fundraisers for its 10-day community celebration.

The second annual Taste of the Town will be held Oct. 16, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Waynesboro Country Club.

This year's event will highlight about 15 different vendors each providing the guest with a 1-2-ounce portion of their signature food. Guests circulate throughout the facility in any order tasting the foods from each vendor. About a half-dozen new vendors will be participating this year, adding to the variety of items available.

The event will be expanded to include the ballroom and the dining room to accommodate more vendors and provide a better flow for guests.

"This is an unusual opportunity for local residents to discover new dining options in an atmosphere with soothing music, tasteful fine arts and outstanding floral arrangements," board member Allie Kohler said in the news release. Business casual dress is suggested. Alcoholic beverages are available at the cash bar.

Tickets will go on sale Sept. 8 at the Waynesboro Area Chamber of Commerce, 5 Roadside Ave. The Chamber accepts credit card and cash payments during regular business hours. Tickets are also available at the Mainstreet Waynesboro office on center square and at select locations or from committee individuals that accept only cash or checks.

Tickets cost $25 each and the number of tickets is limited.
