Harry Lewis "Fang" Britner, 66, of Hagerstown, Md., and formerly of Williamsport, Md., died Monday, Aug. 16, 2010, at the University of Maryland Medical Center, Baltimore, Md.

Born Nov. 9, 1943, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Ronald Ogden Sr. and Dorothy Jane Irwin Britner.

He was a 1962 graduate of Williamsport High School, and graduated from Hagerstown Junior College and the University of Maryland.

He was employed by the Washington County Board of Education and taught biology at South Hagerstown High School for more than 31 years, retiring in 2000.


He was active with Britner's Produce Farm Stand for many years.

He was of the Methodist faith.

He was involved with the Boy Scouts of America.

He was a member of Eagles Club of Hagerstown and Westmoreland Glass Collectors Club.

Survivors include sweetheart, Sue Gemeny of Keedysville, Md.; daughter, Catherine A. Britner of Odenton, Md.; son, Lewis G. Britner and his wife, Sharon, of Hagerstown; son, Andrew Britner of Pompano Beach, Fla.; sister, Dorothy A. Hager and her husband, William Brobst, of Kitty Hawk, N.C.; brother, Ronald O. Britner Jr. and his wife, Anna, of Bedford, Pa.; brother, William V. Britner and his wife, Barbara, of Williamsport; brother, David O. Britner and his wife, Vickie, of Hagerstown; granddaughter, Alexis Clark of Newport News, Va.; sister-in-law, Nancy M. Britner; many nieces and nephews; close cousins, Kurt, John, Buddie, Clay and Joel; and many friends.

He was preceded in death by one brother, James W. Britner.

The family will receive friends at Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St., Williamsport, on Thursday, Aug. 19, 2010, from 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral home will be open after 9 a.m. Thursday for the convenience of family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St., Williamsport, on Friday, Aug. 20, 2010, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Susan Boehl officiating. Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
