Glazer bound for Charleston

August 17, 2010

CLEAR SPRING -- Brandon Glazer enjoyed an evening at home Monday, preparing for his departure to The College of Charleston on Wednesday.

Drafted in the 24th round by Kansas City in the Major League baseball First-Year Player Draft in June, Glazer couldn't get the offer he was looking for prior to Monday's midnight deadline.

"It's disappointing," said Glazer. "I guess they weren't willing to offer what I wanted."

Teams that are unable to sign drafted players prior to the deadline lose the rights to those players.

"I'll try to get big, faster and stronger in college and get a higher draft spot," said Glazer, who led Clear Spring to the Maryland Class 1A state finals this year.

Glazer will not be eligible for the draft again until after his junior year.
