Hoodhop Inc. held a dance competition July 31 at Doub's Woods Park in Hagerstown.

It was the culmination of a six-week summer dance program in which 80 dancers 4 to 17 participated.

The neighborhoods competing in the dance competition included Noland Village, West End, Pangborn Park, Cortland Apartments and Fairgrounds.

At the competition, each neighborhood group performed its routine in front of a large crowd and a panel of judges.

The results are as follows: first place - Noland Village; second place - Cortland; third place - Pangborn; fourth place - Fairgrounds; and fifth place - West End.

Hoodhop Inc. provides free dance lessons in the housing neighborhoods in Hagerstown. The dance teachers for the neighborhoods are high school- and college-aged teens and young adults.

Hoodhop Inc. gave these young choreographers the opportunity to step up and be leaders in their own neighborhood.

Hoodhop plans to offer dance programs in Hagerstown's housing neighborhoods this coming school year.

Sponsors include Aladdin Trophies, Police Athletic League, Cross and Crown, and Accent Imaging.
