Reiber tied in tourney
HERSHEY, Pa. -- Former Waynesboro, Pa. standout Kevin Reiber was tied for first place after the first round of the 41st Jake Gittlen Memorial Tournament on Saturday.
Reiber, the defending champion, shared the lead at 1-under-par 70 with Heath Davidson and Michael Owen.
Reiber had three birdies on the back nine at Hershey Country Club's East Course.
The Gittlen Tournament, featuring top amateur golfers from Central Pennsylvania, benefits the Gittlen Cancer Research Foundation at Penn State University.
HCC set to host annual golf tournament
Hagerstown Community College's Alumni Association will hold its 18th annual golf tournament Sept. 24 at Black Rock Golf Course in Hagerstown.
The tournament will begin at noon. It is open to the public and will feature a four-person scramble format. Cost is $95 per person and includes cart and greens fees, cart lunches, refreshments, post-tournament buffet dinner and awards banquet, as well as individual and team prizes. Participants will also have chances to win a new automobile, cash, cruise and airline tickets, pro shop gift certificates, golf equipment and more.
