Man charged with trying to rob Sheetz

HAGERSTOWN -- A Hagerstown man was charged after an attempted robbery Friday night at Sheetz at 700 Potomac Ave. in Hagerstown, according to a Hagerstown Police Department press release.

Robert John Summerville III, 29, of 827 Hamilton Blvd., was charged with attempted robbery, trespassing and disorderly conduct, Sgt. C.F. Woodring said.

The robbery was reported about 9:15 p.m., Woodring said.

A man entered the store demanding money, but did not display a weapon, Woodring said. The man left the store without taking any money, Woodring said.

Summerville was found a short time later and taken into custody, Woodring said.
