Daubach prevails in Long Drive contest

Despite a strong breeze, Dave Daubach roped a 335-yard drive to win the Jim Ward 'Big Daddy' Long Drive contest at Beaver Creek Country Club, the final competition prior to today's WACO Championship.

Chuck Thatcher was second with a 316-yard drive, followed by Justin Neikirk's 310-yard drive and a 305-yard shot by Alex Hoffman.

Shepherd to hold scrimmages

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. -- Shepherd University will hold a pair of intrasquad scrimmages at Ram Stadium before opening the season Aug. 28 at rival Shippensburg University.

The Rams will scrimmage today at 1 p.m. and Aug. 20 at 3:30 p.m.

The scrimmages are open to the public and admission is free.

Suns to host free carnival

The Hagerstown Suns are hosting a free carnival at Municipal Stadium on Aug. 21 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The event, which is free to all, will feature carnival games, free Suns hats, inflatables and an appearance by the Suns' mascot, Woolie.
