Ralph Francis Baker, 88, of 1056 Fairview Road, Hagerstown, Md., passed away, Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2010, at Western Maryland Hospital Center, Hagerstown.

Born Tuesday, June 13, 1922, in Taneytown, Md., he was the son of the late Roy H. Baker and the late Mary Miller Baker.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Army. He retired from Mack Trucks Inc. in 1986. He was a member of Haven Lutheran Church, B.P.O. Elks No. 378, Morris Frock American Legion Post 42, Eagles Inc., Waynesboro, Mack Trucks Golden Bulldogs and he helped form Northwood Swim Club.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Ohna Frances Pinnix Baker; two daughters, Vicki O'Connor and husband, Michael, of Hagerstown, Md., and Brenda Burkett and husband, Dean, of Williamsport, Md.; three grandchildren, Brad O'Connor, Jennifer McCleaf and Jason Showe; seven great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.


He was preceded in death by sisters, Catherine Jenkins and Ruth Anna Phillips; and brother, Joseph C. Baker.

Family will receive friends Sunday, Aug. 15, 2010, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown, MD 21742.

Services will be private with the family.

Interment will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown, Md.
