Motorcycle ride

Big Brothers Big Sisters will hold a Biking Big For Littles Motorcycle Ride and Raffle on Saturday, Sept. 11, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Municipal Stadium, 274 E. Memorial Blvd. in Hagerstown.

The event is co-sponsored by the Hagerstown Suns. It will include a motorcycle ride, lunch, entertainment and the chance to win prizes.

Tickets cost $20 per person. Entertainment will be provided by Staff Infection and a local bluegrass band.

Gates will open at 10 a.m. and the first rider will depart the stadium at 11 a.m. Participants will complete a 1 1/2-hour motorcycle ride. Riders will return to the stadium between 12:30 and 1:30 p.m.


Raffle tickets will be available for a chance to win a 2010 Ultra Limited Harley-Davidson motorcycle. The raffle tickets cost $20. Winners will be announced at 4 p.m. on Sept. 11. Participants need not be present to win.

Bake sale planned

The Washington County Junior Football League Pee Wee Cheerleaders will host a bake sale Friday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Walmart Supercenter on Garland Groh Boulevard in Hagerstown. Proceeds will benefit the cheerleaders.

School to start

It is so hard to believe that summer vacation is coming to an end and the children are returning to school Wednesday, Aug. 18. Wishing all the returning students, parents, teachers and staff a fun and successful 2010-11 school year.

Voter registration

Beginning Saturday, the Washington County Election Board and the League of Women Voters will hold voter registration in the food court area of Valley Mall from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Registration will be held again Saturday, Aug. 21, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Community yard sale

A community yard sale will be held Saturday from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Fairgrounds Park stables.

Salon to give free haircuts

Universal Hair Studio, at 1826 Dual Highway in Hagerstown, will give free haircuts to needy children Monday, starting at 11 a.m., as part of a back-to-school event at the salon.

In addition to the haircuts, free school supplies will be given away while supplies last.
