E. Frances Dawson Widmyer, 84, died Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2010.

Born Aug. 1, 1926, in Morgan County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Ward M. and Lola Beeler Dawson.

She was a member of Union Chapel United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the choir and the Ladies Aid.

She was a graduate of Berkeley Springs (W.Va.) High School and Shenandoah College in Dayton, Va.

She worked in Charleston, W.Va., as a secretary in 1949 and thereafter was associated with the family operation of Dawson's Hardware, which was originated by her father in 1927. She worked there until the business was sold to the Omps brothers in 1986.

She is survived by one son, Stephen G. Widmyer of Martinsburg, W.Va.; one grandson, Marc S. Widmyer of San Diego, Calif.; two sisters-in-law, Jessie Widmyer Hunter and Ruth O. Dawson, both of Berkeley Springs; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Glenwood R. Widmyer; one sister, Evelyn R. Dawson Henry; and five brothers, Medford R. Dawson, Ward M. Dawson Jr., Kenneth C. Dawson, Donald R. Dawson and Robert H. Dawson.

The family will receive friends Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hunter-Anderson Funeral Home, Berkeley Springs.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Union Chapel United Methodist Church, Berkeley Springs, with the Rev. Patricia Watson officiating.

Arrangements are by Hunter-Anderson Funeral Home, Berkeley Springs.
