HEDGESVILLE, W.Va. -- Police seized 52 marijuana plants Tuesday night from the property of a Hedgesville-area man who later was charged with one count of cultivation of marijuana, according to court records.
Michael Winfield House, 49, of 679 Providence Church Road, was released Wednesday from Eastern Regional Jail after posting $25,000 bail, according to court and jail records.
West Virginia State Police Trooper C.S. Maynard and two other troopers executed a search warrant at the Providence Church Road property just before 11 p.m., according to court records.
Police found two small patches of marijuana that were planted in lines on the property, according to court records.
House, according to a complaint that Maynard filed with the court, admitted the plants belonged to him and told police that the marijuana had been growing there for more than six months.
