Vendors sought for Market Day in Waynesboro

WAYNESBORO, Pa. -- Planning is under way for the sixth annual Market Day celebration Saturday, Oct. 2 in downtown Waynesboro. Craft and artisan vendors are are being sought for the event, which is sponsored by Mainstreet Waynesboro Inc. and runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Last year's Market Day attracted thousands of visitors to more than 100 vendors, live music, a variety of food, a chili contest and a block-long scarecrow display.

During the event, Waynesboro's Main Street is closed to vehicle traffic from Potomac to Walnut streets. St. Andrew Church will host Oktoberfest.

Mainstreet's Director of Promotions and Member Services Melissa Russ said the 2010 Market Day will be the biggest one so far."We are building on the event each year," she said, "and Mainstreet's promotions committee is planning to add new activities this year that will appeal to families and visitors of all ages."
