Laughter Yoga Club

Laughter Yoga Club meets from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesdays through Aug. 25, in the library at Trinity Lutheran Church, 26 W. Commerce St., Chambersburg, Pa.

Join the Laughter Yoga Club and you will maximize the benefits of laughter by sharing hearty extended laughter with others in a safe environment with certified instructor Cathy Hansen.

Child, infant CPR, First Aid

The Washington County Red Cross is having a CPR/AED child and infant, and First Aid certification course from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 14, at 1131 Conrad Court, Hagerstown. The certification course includes manual, skill cards and certification card.

The purpose of the course is to train lay responders to overcome any reluctance to act in emergency situations and recognize and care for life-threatening respiratory or cardiac emergencies in children and infants.

Stroke screenings

Screenings for stroke/carotid artery disease, peripheral arterial disease and abdominal aortic aneurysm will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 28, at South Central Surgical Associates office at Summit Health Center, 757 Norland Ave., Suite 104, Chambersburg, Pa. The three screenings are offered by South Central Surgical Associates, an affiliate of Summit Health.

Cost is $75 for all three screenings or $25 each.

Stress, weight loss classes

The Washington County Health Department is offering new fall classes for EBT: A scientific solution for stress and weight.

This program is designed to help individuals struggling with weight issues and focuses on the root of the obesity problem: stress.

Individuals who learn how to retrain their brain to ease stress and have more joy in their life find it easier to make lifestyle changes that last. The method is science-based and conducted by certified providers.

Classes will be held at Valley Grace Brethren Church Thursday evenings starting in August and in Boonsboro on Tuesday evenings starting in September.
