Community giveaway event to be held Saturday in Hagerstown

August 09, 2010

A Community Free-for-All will be Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon in the Kmart parking lot on Massey Boulevard in Hagerstown.

The event is free and open to anyone in the Tri-State area.

Residents are asked to bring usable items - garden produce, clothing, toys, books, household items, or anything else they wish to give away.

Area merchants have also donated coupons and goods.

Everything will be free. Nothing may be offered for sale.

Residents are welcome to take away anything they want even if they have not brought anything to give away. Those bringing items to give away are asked to remove anything remaining at the close of the event.

Free music for the event will be provided by the Borderline Ensemble, singer-songwriter Dean Brocious, recording artist Lou Murray, pianist and vocalist Kim Tantillo, and others.

The event is sponsored by the Unitarian Universalist Church of Hagerstown "to promote a spirit of generosity in keeping with our faith," said Lou Murray, who organized the event.
