Bone to be Wild motorcycle ride raises more than $5,700 for Humane Society

The seventh annual Bone to Be Wild, the Dave Alderson Memorial Motorcycle Ride on July 18 raised more than $5,700 for the Humane Society of Washington County.

The organizers said 109 motorcycles and 173 riders participated.

Awards were handed out to the riders who earned top pledges for participating in the ride. This year's honors went to Stan and Denise Bryan who raised $509 in pledges and Laurie Pfeiffer, who raised $500 in pledges for the shelter. Taking the honor of having driven the farthest to participate in the ride was given to Ralph Vaughn of Hanover, Pa. Shelter officials thank the winner of the 50/50 raffle, James Parks, who donated his winnings back to the shelter for a donation of $220.

Established by Peggy Bushey, the event was established as a memorial ride to honor her husband, Dave Alderson.

Event sponsors were Cavetown Planing Mill Co., the Alderson Family, AC&T, Red Men Tribe 84, Hempen Hill BBQ, Sharrett Inc., Peaceable Pastures LLC, Peaceable Paws LLC, GS Images, Younger Motorcars, Mr. Natural's Tattoo Studio, Robin and Teresa Koogler and Innovative Inc. Gift and prize donors were Cavetown Planing Mill Co., Hempen Hill BBQ, Bow Wow Station and Spa LLC, Peaceable Paws LLC, Peaceable Pastures, LLC, Hagerstown Speedway, Padonia Station in Timonium, M&S Harley-Davidson, Acupuncture Associates, Chipotle Mexican Grill, Adventure Park USA, Eleanor and Angus Lakin, Susan Fancher and Regal Cinemas Valley Mall Stadium 16.
