Fahrney-Keedy Home & Village



BOONSBORO - Nola Blowe recently was hired as administrator at Fahrney-Keedy Home & Village.

Blowe has worked in the long-term care field for 12 years and most recently worked at Devlin Manor in Cumberland, Md. She also has spent time as a dietary department manager, in a business office, in human resources and as an administrator.

Blowe received a degree in health care management from West Virginia University.

RE/MAX Achievers of Hagerstown



The following people recently joined the staff of RE/MAX Achievers:

Clark Hoover has been in real estate for four years. He is licensed to sell real estate in Maryland.

Hoover is a lifelong resident of Washington County, a graduate of North Hagerstown High School and a Vietnam-era veteran.

Charlotte Ashton returns to RE/MAX Achievers, where she will join The Powell Team.

Ashton has been licensed to sell real estate for more than 10 years. She is a graduate of the Realtors Institute (GRI), and is licensed in Maryland, Pennsylvania and West Virginia.

Total Fitness Specialists



Total Fitness Specialists Inc. in Hagerstown is recognizing two employees for their years of service.

Erin Fleming is celebrating eight years as a trainer.

Fleming is a certified personal trainer through the American Fitness Professionals & Associates and has a B.S. in exercise science from Shepherd University. She also holds certifications as a nutrition and wellness consultant and post-rehabilitation specialist.

Fleming's fitness background includes sports conditioning, weight loss and wellness, children's fitness and boot camp instructor.

Fleming also works as a registered respiratory therapist at Washington County Hospital.

Sheila (Kurtz) Horst is celebrating three years as a trainer.

Horst graduated from Frostburg State University with a B.S. in exercise science with a concentration in health/fitness. She is a certified personal trainer through the American Council on Exercise.

Horst works with and trains a variety of clients, including post-cardiac rehab, handicapped and disabled. She also does new members orientations and 5K race training and leads fitness boot camp.

Based at Anytime Fitness in Hagerstown, Total Fitness Specialists also provide training at Fountain Head Country Club, homes, corporations, clubs, schools, churches, neighborhoods, parks and communities.

Frederick Pediatric Dentistry



FREDERICK, Md. - Dr. Michael Tressler Virts recently joined the staff of Frederick Pediatric Dentistry

Virts is a 1998 graduate of Frederick High School and earned his bachelor of science degree at Washington College in Chestertown, Md. He received the doctor of dental surgery degree and specialty training in pediatric dentistry at the University of Maryland Dental School in Baltimore. His experience in Baltimore also took him to Johns Hopkins Hospital and Kernan Hospital, a specialty hospital of the University of Maryland Medical System, where he was a consulting dentist to the cleft lip and palate teams.

Virts began his professional relationship with Frederick Pediatric Dentistry in 1999 as a dental assistant while enrolled at Washington College, and held the position for nearly six years. During his professional training in Baltimore, he was recognized by the American College of Dentists for exceptional character and a commitment to promoting professionalism and ethics. He was the 2008 recipient of the Timothy Heatwole Chair for the senior who best exemplified the qualities of ethical standards, kindness and humanitarianism; the Katharine Toomey Award for dedication to the profession; and the Department of Pediatric Dentistry Award for the senior student most proficient in pediatric dentistry.

Virts is a member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, Maryland Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, American Society for Dental Ethics and American Dental Association, including its component societies.

Leitersburg Cinemas



The following people recently joined the staff of Leitersburg Cinemas.

Jessica Rea was hired as general manager.

Rea's responsibilities will include the daily operations of the theater, scheduling, and the hiring and training of new staff.

Rea served in various staff positions for five years at the former Hagerstown Cinemas 10 until becoming operational manager in 2005.

After working in retail management in Virginia Beach, Va., Rea recently returned to the Hagerstown area.

Rea is a graduate of Smithsburg High School and is working toward an associate degree at Hagerstown Community College.

Ralph McIntyre was hired as director of group sales.

McIntyre will oversee special events, birthday parties, fundraiser packages, corporate meetings and the weekly coordination of "Dinner and a Movie."

McIntyre worked at Hagerstown Cinemas 10 for many years and also was employed as group sales assistant for the Frederick Keys.

McIntyre is a graduate of Waynesboro (Pa.) Area Senior High School and is working toward a bachelor's degree in marketing from Penn State and an associate degree in computer networking security from Hagers-town Community College.

Jack Gaughen Realtor ERA



GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Sharon Gunder of the Greencastle office of Jack Gaughen Realtor ERA was named Agent of the Month for June.

Gunder was recognized in the three years and over in the business category.

The award is given based on the number of listings taken, sales made and closed sales; attendance at Realtor functions; and continuing education classes completed.
