Hagerstown Police said Friday they were looking for a Washington, D.C., man suspected of firing three shots into the door of a home on Manor Drive earlier this week while eight people were inside.
Police said in a news release that they have a warrant for the arrest of Jerry Truevet Payton, 34, whose last known address was on U Street NE in Washington, D.C.
Payton is accused of firing a shotgun three times into the front door at 110 Manor Drive, Apt. 2, shortly before midnight Monday. Manor Drive is off Dual Highway near Pangborn Elementary School.
Payton faces eight counts each of first-degree assault and second-degree assault. He also is charged with reckless endangerment, malicious destruction of property and discharging a firearm in the city.
