Mr. Lawrence Allen "New York" Dickson, 60, Hagerstown, died Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2010, at his home.

Born in the Bronx, N.Y., March 16, 1950, he was a son of the late Robert Johnson and Grace Martin Dickson.

He was employed as a welder with CANAM Steel in Point of Rocks and was a union steward with the Steelworkers Union.

He was a member of the Greater Campher Temple in Hagerstown, and served as a captain of the security team at the temple and was also a U.S. Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Diane Henderson Dickson; one daughter, Jaymea Dickson, Hagerstown; two sons, Lawrence Dickson Jr., Hagerstown, and Antonio Dickson, Hagerstown; one sister, Vanya Rahming, Bronx; and seven grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a son, Maurice Dickson.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday Aug. 7, 2010, at Greater Campher Temple, 125 Bethel St., Hagerstown. There will be a viewing one hour before the church service Saturday. The Rev. Darin Mency will officiate. Interment will be made in Rose Hill Cemetery, Hagerstown.

The family will receive friends at the church Friday, Aug. 6, 2010, from 6 to 8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Greater Campher Temple.
