Hagerstown Police are making another plea to the public for information about a Hagerstown woman who was found dead April 19, 2008, in her Mitchell Avenue home.

Hagerstown Police Detective Steve Hoover said Thursday he was trying to generate additional information about Carol Marie Brown, also known as Carol Maphis.

He said anyone who might be able to help may contact him at 301-790-3700, ext. 234.

In April, on the two-year anniversary of Brown's death, Hagerstown Police said they were renewing their pleas for help in finding her killer.

At that time, city police said they had been working the case actively for the past two years but that their avenues of investigation were starting to "run dry."

Brown, a single mother of two young children, was found dead on the second floor of 457 Mitchell Ave., and her death was ruled a homicide.

In April, police were withholding details about the case, including the cause of death, for investigative purposes.

Police said at that time they did not want the case to drag on as an unsolved case for many years because people move out of a community, making it increasingly difficult to get information.
