Fire destroys mobile home in Berkeley Springs

BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. -- A double-wide mobile home in the 1400 block of Jim West Road was destroyed by fire on Wednesday night, authorities said.

Firefighter Jason Fonck of the Berkeley Springs Fire Department said the fire began about 8 p.m. and took about three hours to extinguish.

The residents were sittingoutside when they heard a loud bang and saw smokeinside the trailer, he said. Fonck declined to identify the residents.

No one was hurt, he said.

Foncksaid they did not know what started the fire.

Thefire is under investigation by the West Virginiafire marshal, he said.

In addition to the Berkeley Springs FireDepartment,Great Cacaponand South Morgan fire departments responded from Morgan County. Companies fromHedgesville, W.Va.; Hancock; and Little Orleans, Md.; also were on the scene, Fonck said.
