Mary Katherine Howard Carr, 91, of 268 S. Potomac St., Hagerstown, Md., died Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2010, at Holly Place.
Born June 17, 1919, in Washington County, Md., she was the daughter of the late Alyce Valentine and George Hartley and Catherine Howard.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jay Bland Carr, on May 16, 1960.
She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Funkstown, Md.
She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary, Funkstown American Legion, Post 211.
She is survived by four daughters, Bonnie L. Smith and husband George, Sandy Swain and husband Lonnie, Judy Ann Knodle and husband Donnie, and Nancy Lee Hansen and husband Michael; three sons, Jay B. Carr II, Ronald Wayne Carr and wife Tammi, and James Hartley Carr and friend Sandy Foust; a sister, Anna Mae Barber; a brother, Richard Howard; 12 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
