Way to go, Halfway All-Stars

The Halfway Little League 11-12 All-Stars won the league's first District I championship since 1999 recently. The Little Leaguers then went on to claim the runner-up slot in the state tournament.

The following is a list of players on the team: Matt Malphurs, Zach Andrews, Tanner Canfield, Ryan Downes, Bryce Ruppenthal, Brandon Gooden, Mikey Toms, John Davies, Billy Miller, Jordan Wood, Austin Sigler and Justin Mitchell.

Junior League football team to host yard sale

The Hagerstown Steelers football team will host a yard sale Saturday, Aug. 14, at Aaron's in South End Shopping Center, across from South Hagerstown High School on Maryland Avenue. The yard sale will be from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.


Cruise-ins planned at mall on Saturdays

Beginning Saturday, Classic Car Group for Children will hold a cruise-in at the Valley Mall parking lot by JCPenney. The group will hold cruise-ins each Saturday through Oct. 3.

More than 200 cars normally participate per cruise-in. The entry fee is $2. Proceeds go to a local charity. Dates for cruise-ins are Aug. 7, 14, 21 and 28; Sept. 4, 11, 18 and 25; and the Halloween cruise-in Oct. 3.

Music by the Lake continues at City Park

Stoney Creek Bluegrass Band will perform at City Park on Saturday at 7 p.m. The event is co-sponsored by Washington County Arts Council, City of Hagerstown and Hagerstown-Washington County Convention and Visitors Bureau.

School celebration planned at South High

South Hagerstown High School will celebrate its 55th birthday in 2011. A meeting of the SHHS Alumni Association will be Thursday, Aug. 12, at 7 p.m. in the SHHS Media Center.

All classes are requested to send a representative to discuss the celebration.

Yard sale set for Saturday

St. Andrew's United Methodist Church, at 1020 Maryland Ave., will hold a yard sale Saturday from 7 a.m. to noon.

The church is across from South End Shopping Center.
