Back-to-school blast set for Saturday, Aug. 14

Springfield Farm Barn will hold a back-to-school event titled "Last Blast" Saturday, Aug. 14, from noon to 8 p.m.

It will be a free day of fun for youths before school starts.

The event will include group water balloon battles, free food, art activities, face painting and inflatable bounce.

County youth organizations will have representatives available. A free rock concert begins at 5:30 p.m.

Public hearing planned for alley abandonment

There will be a public hearing Monday to discuss abandoning the alley behind the former Red Barron building on Potomac Street. The meeting will be held at Town Hall, beginning at 6:15 p.m.

WHS class of 1957 plans reunion Sept. 18

Williamsport High School class of 1957 will hold a picnic reunion Saturday, Sept. 18, from 1 to 5 p.m. at Byron Memorial Park.


Classmates and friends are invited to attend. Everyone is asked to bring a covered dish.

Clothes of Hope schedule for August

Clothes of Hope Ministries at Williamsport United Methodist Church, 25 E. Church St., provides gently used and some new clothing. It will be open Thursday and Aug. 19, from 9 a.m. to noon; and Monday and Aug. 23, from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. It will not be open on Saturdays in August.

There is no charge for the clothing. Monetary donations are appreciated. The ministry will be open Thursday, Aug. 12, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. to collect clothes only.

Angel Food ordering set for this month

Angel Food orders will be taken Thursday, Aug. 12, from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday, Aug. 14, from noon to 2 p.m. at Rehoboth United Methodist Church, 30 E. Salisbury St., in the Fellowship Hall.

Walnut Towers residents order Wednesday, Aug. 11, from 3 to 4:30 p.m. and Saturday, Aug. 14, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Potomac Towers residents order Wednesday, Aug. 11, from 1 to 2:30 p.m. and Saturday, Aug. 14, from 9 to 10:30 a.m.

Payment is made at the time of ordering by cash, money order or food stamps. You can order and pay online with debit or credit card.

The program is open to everyone, and there are no income restrictions, applications, qualifications or minimums.
