Peach pie contest to be held at Leitersburg festival

August 04, 2010

The Peach Festival in Leitersburg will be host a peach pie contest on Saturday, Aug. 14. All pies should be brought to The Courtesy Tent, in front of the pavilion, between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Judging will take place at 3 p.m.

The contest is open to participants of all ages. People are asked to bake their favorite homemade peach pie recipe. Please do not bring a store-bought pie. Pies need to be in an aluminum pan or a dish that can be given away.

The pies will be judged on appearance and taste. Ribbons will be given to first, second and third place winners. Participation ribbons will be given out to all others who have entered the contest.

Denny Stouffer of Stouffers Auction will auction off all pies entered into the contest. The pie owner that raises the most money during the auction will choose a nonprofit organization for all proceeds from the auction to be donated to. Pies will not be returned to original owners.
