Franklin County Fair to be held Aug. 15-21

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - The Franklin County Fair will be Aug. 15 to Aug. 21 at the fairgrounds, 3725 Warm Spring Road, Chambersburg.

The fair provides opportunities to showcase agricultural products, educate the public about agriculture, and provides opportunities for youth and adults to show their livestock and dairy animals.

The schedule is as follows:

o Sunday, Aug. 15, 1 p.m. - Youth Horse Show

o Tuesday, Aug. 17, 9 a.m.' 4-H Dairy Show; 6 p.m., 4-H/FFA Beef Show

o Wednesday, Aug. 18, - 4-H/FFA animal dress-up parade beginning at 7:30 p.m.

o Thursday, Aug. 19 - Holstein Dairy Show at 6:30 p.m.

o Friday, Aug. 20, 9:30 a.m. - Guernsey, Jersey and Brown Swiss Dairy Show.

Monday evening is always a special night, with the Franklin County Little Miss, Princess and Fair Queen contests.

A highlight on Thursday is the "Old Fashioned County Fair Day" beginning at 6 p.m.


Other activities will include watermelon seed spitting, cow-milking contests, hanging doughnut-eating contests, water balloon toss and egg toss.

There will be food stands, arena and stage shows, midway rides, and animal and craft exhibits.

Admission on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday is $5 for those ages 13 and older, $3 for those ages 6 to 12, and free for those 5 and younger. On days featuring the truck and tractor pulls (Wednesday and Friday), admission will be $8 for those ages 13 years and older, $3 for those ages 6 to 12, and free for those 5 and younger.
