One man arrested, another sought in connection with bank robbery

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. -- Police arrested one man and are seeking another after an armed bank robbery in Chambersburg on Friday afternoon in which the robbers set fire to their getaway vehicle, according to a Pennsylvania State Police press release.

The robbery happened about 1:35 p.m. at M&T Bank at 1750 Philadelphia Ave., troopers said.

The man who was arrested was being held at Franklin County Jail pending arraignment, a jail spokesman said Friday night. The man's name is being withheld by The Herald-Mail because he had not been charged.

Two men entered the bank, displayed handguns and removed money, troopers said.

There were 11 people, including five employees, in the bank at the time of the robbery, troopers said.

The robbers fled to the area of Siloam Road, troopers said. They set fire to the original getaway vehicle, then left the area in a green Dodge Neon.

One suspect was apprehended a short time later by Pennsylvania State Police, troopers said.

The other man has not been identified. He was described as having a large build, troopers said.
