Museum Arts Academy

Museum Arts Academy will offer watercolor courses for children ages 9 to 13, 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 3, through Friday, Aug. 6; Art Adventures: Museum Discoveries for ages 6 to 8 with Anthony Messano, 12:30 to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 3, through Friday, Aug. 6; Oil Painting with Ski Holm, 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesdays, Aug. 4, through Aug. 25. Free art workshops for children

Each instructor will introduce their specialized interests to children between the ages of 6 and 12. The workshops are free and registration is required. Due to limited space, children may enroll for two of the 10 classes listed:

Tuesday, Aug. 10 - Barbara Diefenderfer: Kool-Aid Dyed Silk Scarves, 10 a.m. to noon; Polymer Clay, 1 to 3 p.m.

Wednesday, Aug. 11 -Leia Wood: Abstract Experiments with Watercolor, 10 a.m. to noon; Watercolor Landscapes, 1 to 3 p.m.

Thursday, Aug. 12 -Kent Roberts: Drawing Super Heroes and Villains, 10 a.m. to noon; Drawing Caricatures and Cartoon Faces, 1 to 3 p.m.

Friday, Aug. 13 - Kathryn Lant: Clay Vessels, 10 a.m. to noon; 3-D Sculpture, 1 to 3 p.m.

Mountain Biking 101 for Beginner Teens

Introduction to mountain biking, includes a short mountain bike ride that includes general mountain biking challenges. Ages 13 to 17. General biking skills, a mountain bike, helmet and water are required. 1:30 to 3 p.m. Rain date Saturday, Aug. 21. 1775 Monocacy Blvd., Frederick, parking lot by boat launch. Basic Bicycle Program

An introduction to safe bicycle riding on city and county roads for purposes of commuting, shopping and recreation. Classes include one hour of instruction and one hour of riding. Bicycles and helmets required for all classes. Ages 17 and younger must be accompanied by a parent from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. on the bike ride. 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesdays, Aug. 17, 24 and 31. Adult exercise class for ages 55 and older

Pay-as-you-go exercise class for adults ages 55 and older. Exercises include cardio, sculpt, core and flexibility. Bring your own mat. 9:15 to 10:15 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.
