Grasshoppers jump on Suns early

July 30, 2010

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- The Greensboro Grasshoppers scored two runs in each of the first two innings Thursday night and rolled to a 7-3 win over the Hagerstown Suns in a South Atlantic League game.

Greensboro (17-16 second half) collected 13 hits against three Suns pitchers. Kyle Jensen and Michael Pasek led the way with three hits each, while Jose Duarte and Chase Austin each added two for the Grasshoppers.

Graham Hicks (1-4) took the loss for Hagerstown, allowing five runs (four earned) and seven hits in five innings.

Justin Bloxom had two hits and two RBIs for the Suns (12-21 second half).

Bloxom's two-run double in the top of the third after Greensboro starter Chad James walked the bases loaded helped Hagerstown cut its deficit to 4-3.

Greensboro got one run back in the bottom of the inning when Austin doubled, took third on a groundout and scored on a wild pitch by Hicks.
