No one hurt when gunman tries to enter Wendy's

July 29, 2010

HAGERSTOWN -- No one was injured Wednesday night when a gunman tried to force his way into Wendy's on Garland Groh Boulevard, Hagerstown Police Department Capt. Mark Holtzman said Thursday.

Witnesses said the man wore dark clothing and had a mask over his face, Holtzman said.

The man approached a Wendy's employee outside the rear of the restaurant about 10:15 p.m. and shoved a gun in her back, Holtzman said. He then demanded that she call a fellow employee inside the building to open a locked door.

When the door opened, an employee inside the building was able to push away the gunman, Holtzman said. The man then fled.

A K-9 unit from the Boonsboro Police Department responded to the scene, but couldn't pick up the scent, Holtzman said.
