CAMBRIDGE, Md. -- After a suspension in play Sunday, Maugansville's Senior League All-Stars returned to action with a purpose Monday morning.

Down 2-0 to Waldorf when play was suspended, Maugansville came back for an 8-4 first-round victory.

After taking a break to get back on schedule, Maugansville then lost 12-4 to Talbot, pushing the team into the losers' bracket.

Maugansville fell behind Tablot 4-0 in the first inning and never recovered, trailing 10-0 before scoring in the fourth inning.

Alijah Benson and Sergio Gavan had two hits apiece, including doubles.

"We made two errors and there were a couple of close calls that didn't go our way in the inning," said manager Dan Dopson.

Dylan Dopson and Mike Churchey had two hits each and Dopson slugged a home run in the morning game. Dopson's home run came with two runners on and gave Maugansville a 4-2 lead in the third inning.

"We had not played in a couple of weeks and I think the delay, coming back, was a good wakeup call," said Dan Dopson.

Maugansville is in a must-win situation against Delmar tonight at 8.
