"Washington County taxpayer. I live in Hagerstown, but maybe someone can clear up something for me. Why do we have a county administrator, which is not even an elected position, and also county commissioners? Now, the county commissioners are elected positions. Something doesn't make sense here. I think someone should reshape the government here in Washington County."

"I've found two dead bats in my yard in the past month, and I'm concerned about the possibility of rabies in my neighborhood. I called the Washington County Health Department and they didn't seem to be interested. The woman said that they'd only be interested if someone got bit. Apparently even if I found a dozen dead bats in a confined area in a short period of time, they wouldn't do anything. I guess they make more money selling rabies shots than warning folks that rabies is in the area. I had to get rabies shots a few years ago, and believe me, they're not cheap."

"The person from Waynesboro wants everybody that receives money from the government to have a drug test first. I agree that with welfare checks, that would be a good idea. But all the others they mention would be ridiculous: Social Security, unemployment and tax breaks. That would be the same as making a person who wants to draw money out of their savings account be drug tested first."

"In response to the caller that thinks the police officer running for county commissioner is just another politician because he will not publish his address, is incorrect. He is simply protecting the safety of his house and his family. I am the wife of a police officer, and I can assure you my husband has written a lot of tickets to people and he has arrested even more. So at the end of the day, do I want these people knowing where he lives so that they can come to our house and possibly do harm? No. So this is not a political issue, it's a matter of safety."

"Big corporations which got blamed for unemployment to stop temporarily - President Obama won't lower corporate taxes or the ridiculous mandates imposed on corporations, so Alcoa, AT&T, Xerox, Coca-Cola, John Deere, Caterpillar have had to lay off due to this. Bush lowered taxes and had the lowest unemployment in history until Pelosi took Congress. The source is Obama for no one having jobs. ... Republicans want Obama to lower the corporate tax and put people back to work. Unemployment money digs into the national debt, and the logical thing is to create jobs."

"I live near Rest Haven Cemetery in the North End of town. Our neighborhood is usually very quiet and peaceful, but over the last week or so, there have been at least 10 to 20 vehicles that have been broken into. Most of my surrounding neighbors have reported that their loose change is the only thing missing, but others have reported electronics missing as well. Anyone that lives nearby, I would advise you not to keep any valuables in your vehicles."

"I just read where this young man that's running for former Del. Weldon's spot over in Frederick County and portions of southern Washington says he wants to roll back the 6 percent sales tax to 5. Dear Lord, anybody that's ever vacationed in South Carolina knows that they have an 8 percent sales tax. There's a limit to just what we can do. I'm living on a fixed income. It's time that we think as citizens and quit thinking of it as just being radical to the left or the right."
