TOPS (Take off Pounds Sensibly) Chapter 0077 had losses for the week of 24 3/4 pounds.

The best TOPS losers were Rosemary Gill, Louise Kline and Betty Jones. Louise Cline, Rose Shockey and Judy Purdham recorded the best losses for KOPS.

Gill won the Get-R-Done prize and Joan Budny won the Ha! Ha! prize.

The no-no snack for next week is pie.

Imogene Foltz was awarded her five-year KOPS pin. A Pound Puppy was given to Eileen Renwick for encouragement. The program of the day was the annual Chinese raffle, which netted the chapter $234.

Upcoming events include the culmination of the food drive on Aug. 16, a play money auction on Aug. 23 and the annual picnic at Martin L. "Marty" Snook Memorial Park in Halfway on Sept. 13.

Cynthia took this week's thinner winner honors for TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) Chapter 0446. Jennifer won the Ha! Ha! prize.

After announcements by Betty Jo, Teresa presented a program on walking as a way to burn calories.

The next program will deal with label reading. Lynn F. Little, senior agent, family and consumer sciences with the Washington County Extension office, will be the presenter.

Meetings are Wednesdays from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. and weigh-in is at 8:45 a.m. at Shiloh United Methodist Church, 19731 Shiloh Church Road in Hagerstown.

Thrift shop to hold sale



Repeat Performance Thrift Shop, owned and operated by the Washington County Hospital Auxiliary, will hold a 50 percent off sale on all merchandise from Tuesday through Aug. 13.

The thrift shop is open Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Donations of gently used clothing are accepted daily during regular store hours. Money raised by the shop benefits the auxiliary, a registered, nonprofit, charitable organization.

The auxiliary uses the money to purchase new medical equipment for patient-care programs, scholarships and other hospital-related projects. The shop is at 18706 Crestwood Drive.

Class of 1947 reunion



Hagerstown High School class of 1947 is planning its 63rd reunion for Saturday, Sept. 18, starting at noon at the Elks Lodge.

Tickets cost $20. Reservations are due by Sept. 4.

The reunion committee is seeking information for the following classmates: Ruth Carol Fisk, Charlotte Chambers Moore, Norma Jean Cradler Paine, Betty Grogan Frey, Peggy Lacy Spickler, Dale Long, Dorothy Rosensteel Whittman, Charles Saxe, June Spielman Stolin and Julia Wolgord.
