WINCHESTER, Va. - Kevin S. Brashears was named to the dean's list for the spring semester at Shenandoah University.

He is a student in the Harry F. Byrd Jr. School of Business and the School of Arts and Sciences, majoring in business administration and kinesiology.

On May 8, he was selected for membership in Beta Gamma Sigma, the international honor society for collegiate schools of business.

Brashears is a member of the Hornet's baseball team and was named to the USA South All-Academic team and also named ESPN the Magazine's second team Academic All-District III by CoSida.

WAYNESBURG, Pa. - The following area students have been named to the dean's list for the spring semester at Waynesburg University:

Logan B. Kelso of Hagerstown, a junior, who is pursuing a bachelor of science degree in engineering mathematics. He is a graduate of North Hagerstown High School.

Rebecca E. Rockwell of Boonsboro, a junior, who is pursuing a bachelor of arts degree in elementary special education. She is a graduate of Boonsboro High School.

Andrew J. Seabright of Sharpsburg, a senior, who is pursuing a bachelor of arts degree in criminal justice administration. He is a graduate of Boonsboro High School.




ANNVILLE, Pa. - Kristen Liane Poffenberger of Smithsburg has been named to the dean's list for the spring semester at Lebanon Valley College.

She is majoring in physical therapy.




Deanna Mackey, a North Hagerstown High School graduate, and Brittany Winders, a Smithsburg High School grad, have won $5,000 scholarships from the Burger King Scholars Program.

More than $1.2 million was donated nationwide and throughout parts of Canada in the company's 10th year of the program.




LONGVIEW, Texas - Justin Daniel Cutchall of Hagerstown graduated from LeTourneau University with a bachelor of science in engineering.




GREENVILLE, S.C. - Emily Myers of Hagerstown graduated from Furman University at commencement May 8.

She was also named to the dean's list for the spring semester.

She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Terry Myers.




SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - Gary Lee Schetrompf of Williamsport has been named to the dean's list for the spring semester at Drury University.




FROSTBURG, Md. - Lindsey Elizabeth Keyton of Clear Spring has been named to the dean's list for the spring semester at Frostburg State University.

She is a 2006 graduate of Clear Spring High School.




MADISON, N.J. - Drew University student Gordon Cronin Cohen of Shepherds-town, W.Va., has been named to the dean's list for the spring semester.




GRANVILLE, Ohio - Andrew Paul Brabson of Boonsboro was among the graduates awarded diplomas at Denison University's 169th commencement May 16.

Brabson earned a bachelor of arts degree in communication. Brabson was the recipient of the Denison Founders Award.

He is a Boonsboro High School graduate.




MACON, Ga. - Claudia Twum of Frederick, Md., earned a master of public health degree from Mercer University's School of Medicine during the dchool's commencement on May 8 on the university's Macon campus.

Twum was also a member of Phi Kappa Phi.




ALLENTOWN, Pa. - Shoval Resnick of Hagerstown has been named to the dean's list for the spring semester at Cedar Crest College.




BLACKSBURG, Va. - The following area students were among those honored at Virginia Tech's spring commencement ceremony May 14:

Brian Poole of Boonsboro received a bachelor of science in mechanical engineering from the College of Engineering.

Hannah Smith of Clear Spring received a bachelor of science cum laude in dairy science from the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.

Devon Steiner of Hagers-town received a bachelor of science in business in hospitality and tourism management from the Pamplin College of Business.

Evan Thomas of Martinsburg, W.Va., received a bachelor of science in electrical engineering from the College of Engineering. He graduated cum laude.

Jared Heffron of Harpers Ferry, W.Va., received a doctor of philosophy in biological sciences from the College of Science.




MARIETTA, Ohio - Rachel Coleman of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., was recently enrolled into Marietta College's Physician Assistant Graduate Program.

Thirty-seven students are part of the ninth class that began the 27-month program in June.

Coleman is a graduate of Marshall University.




TEANECK, N.J. - Stephanie Austin of Chambersburg, Pa., has been named to the honor's list for the spring semester at Fairleigh Dickinson University.




WASHINGTON, Pa. - Two local students were among the more than 350 students who received a bachelor's degree from Washington and Jefferson College at the college's recent 211th commencement.

Amanda Bundick of Boonsboro, a graduate of Boonsboro High School, is the daughter of Carmen and Arthur Bundick. Bundick double majored in English and political science and completed a concentration in professional writing.
