STRUTHERS, Ohio -- Four errors hurt the Hagerstown Colt League All-Stars on Thursday in an 8-1 loss to Johnstown in the first round of the East Zone West Region Super Regional.

Charles Cvijanovich and Matt Daley each had two hits for Hagerstown. Phil Pietro tripled and Jake Bachtell and Luke Toms both hit a double.

Hagerstown will play either Butler or Con Mac today at 2 p.m. in the losers' bracket.

Brunswick 4, Hagerstown 2

BRUNSWICK, Md. -- The Brunswick Orioles capitalized on two Hagerstown Braves errors in the sixth inning to score three runs, and went on to take a 4-2 victory and a 2-0 lead in the best-of-7 Blue Ridge League Championship Series at Brunswick High School on Thursday.

The Braves took the lead on Marcellus Sumlin's two-run double. Fred Kreiger added two hits and Kent Worthington allowed five hits in six innings but took the loss.

Game 3 will be played at Smithsburg High School this evening at 6.

Mason Dixon Blaze tryouts

The Mason Dixon Blaze girls fastpitch travel softball organization will hold tryouts for the 2010-11 season on Aug. 14 and 21 at Stephanie Zeis Field in Greencastle, Pa.

Tryout times are:

U10/U14 -- 9 a.m. to noon on Aug. 14, 1 to 4 p.m. on Aug. 21.

U12/U16/U18 -- 1 to 4 p.m. on Aug. 14, 9 a.m. to noon on Aug. 21.

Athletes are asked to bring a copy of an official birth certificate, a glove and a bat.
