Yard sale to help bus trip

A yard sale to benefit the For Our Kids Sake bus trip will be today, starting at 7 a.m. at 625 Potomac Ave. The yard sale will run until 7 p.m and again on Saturday, from 7 a.m. until sold out.

Each year, organizers take area children to an amusement park. This year, the trip is to Kings Dominion on Saturday, Aug. 14.

Movie night

The movie "Where the Wild Things Are" will be shown at Washington County Free Library today, starting at dusk. The library is at 100 S. Potomac St. in Hagerstown.

Free popcorn and refreshments will be available while supplies last. Take along a lawn chair.

Reading program under way at library

There's still time to join the adult summer reading club sponsored by Washington County Free Library.

Registration forms and club packets are available at the library reference desk.

Club members can read or listen to any fiction/nonfiction books of their choice and are asked to write a brief review of each book.

There should be one review per book review form.

Complete five reviews to earn a ticket for a grand prize drawing. Turn your reviews in to the reference desk to get your grand prize tickets.

You earn one ticket for every five reviews completed.

Book reviews will be accepted through Aug. 27.

You could win prizes, including 24 pairs of tickets to a 2010-11 Maryland Symphony Orchestra Concert; 24 passes to Discovery Station in downtown Hagerstown admitting one child and an accompanying adult; 16 $5 gift certificates to Borders Books; and other prizes including a Water Your Mind Read tote bag, a flowerpot coffee mug, a book light, a note square and a visor clip to hold your sunglasses.
