Three taken to hospitals after two-vehicle crash on U.S. 340

CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. --Three people were taken to hospitals after being freed from the wreckage of a two-vehicle accident Friday morning at the intersection of U.S. 340 and Millville Road in Jefferson County, a West Virginia rescue official said.

Friendship Fire Co. Lt. Josh Stillwell said the accident occurred about 4:30 a.m. and involved a work van and a Ford F-150 pickup truck.

Both occupants of the van were flown to Winchester (Va.) Medical Center, Stillwell said. The driver of the pickup was taken by ambulance to Jefferson Memorial Hospital in Ranson, W.Va.

Stillwell said the extent of the injuries was unknown.

The Independent Fire Co. and West Virginia State Police assisted at the scene.
