Car comes to rest on sidewalk after crash

July 22, 2010

No one was injured when a car drove onto a sidewalk at about 1:45 p.m. Thursday in the 100 block of Buena Vista Avenue in Hagerstown.

The accident occurred when a southbound Volvo sedan swerved in an attempt to miss a Chevrolet pickup truck that was stopped in the street, Hagerstown Police Officer Ryan Wertz said. The Volvo struck the rear of the pickup, traveled across the roadway and came to rest on the sidewalk in front of a duplex at 108-110 Buena Vista Ave.

Wertz said the impact pushed the pickup into a Washington County Community Action Council transit vehicle that was parked along a curb.

The transit vehicle appeared to have minor damages, Community Action Council Executive Director David Jordan said.

The car and pickup were towed from the scene.
