WAYNESBORO, Pa. -- The Waynesboro Volunteer Fire Department's annual carnival returns this year after being canceled in 2009 for lack of a location and rides.
For 2010, the fire department will host its carnival on the Quincy (Pa.) Ox Roast Grounds on Pa. 997. Carnival Committee Chairman Steve Biesecker said the new location provides the water, electricity and parking needed.
The fire department started looking for alternate locations for the carnival when Rotary Parking Lot was rehabilitated. The carnival was held on the Rotary lot for decades.
"We looked in town, and nothing was feasible here," Biesecker said.
He said Quincy Ox Roast Association officials have been very accommodating as the fire department plans for its carnival, which is scheduled to start Monday and run through July 31. The kitchen opens at 5:30 p.m. each day.
