Charles Alfred Haney, 88, of Hagerstown, Md., passed away Friday, July 16, 2010, at his home.

Born Sunday, Sept. 25, 1921, in Holton, Maine, he was the son of the late James Haney and the late Annie Dubay Haney.

His wife, Gilberta Marie Haney, preceded him in death in 2005.

He was employed with Mack Truck Inc., retiring after 22 years of service.

He was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church, and also the Funkstown American Legion Post 211.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Navy. He was awarded the American Theatre ribbon and the Asiatic Pacific ribbon.

He is survived by his daughter, Sandra B. Haney, of Bradenton, Fla.; son James R. Haney and wife Peggy, of Hagerstown, Md.; sister Agnes Loomis and husband Richard, of Connecticut; brother Archie Lennon and wife Maria, of Ohio; and two granddaughters, Rebecca McNabb of Hagerstown, Md., and Jessica Skiles and husband Ryan, of Greencastle, Pa.

He was preceded in death by three sisters, Florence, Beatrice and Marion, and six brothers, Willie, James, Richard, Charles Joseph, Dennis and Leland.

Family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, July 22.

Services will be held Friday, July 23, 2010, at 11 a.m. at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown MD 21742, with the Rev. Chris Moore officiating.

Interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery, Hagerstown, Md.
